“We only see the Top”

Anderson Burgess, CEO

Coach Burgess grew up in Southern Maryland, where his love for the game began. He was a four-year varsity starter at both Westlake and La Plata High Schools, excelling as a two-way player before continuing his career at the collegiate level. He played four years of college baseball — three at Coppin State University and one at Frostburg State University — where he gained firsthand experience in the commitment and discipline required to compete at the next level.

Upon the conclusion of his playing career, Coach Burgess immediately transitioned into coaching in the summer of 2018, serving as the pitching coach for the Syracuse Salt Cats of the NYCBL. From there, he began coaching at St. Albans School for Boys in Washington, D.C., where he served as the varsity pitching coach and Head JV Coach. In the summer of 2019, he joined the Gastonia Grizzlies of the Coastal Plains League as their pitching coach, working with some of the top collegiate players in the country.

Coach Burgess then accepted a position as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Harding University (AR), where he worked primarily with pitchers and outfielders. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, he returned to Washington, D.C., resuming his role at St. Albans and later joining Bradley Baseball Academy in Reston, Virginia, as a Head Coach and Development Coordinator.

In 2024, Coach Burgess expanded his baseball expertise into the professional ranks, working as a Technology Coordinator for the Baltimore Orioles, where he gained valuable insight into data-driven player development and performance analysis. After his time with the Orioles, he returned to Bradley Baseball Academy, where he continues to coach and mentor players while leading his own training business — Apex Baseball Academy.

At Apex, Coach Burgess combines his experience across high school, collegiate, and professional baseball to help players reach their peak potential. His coaching philosophy centers on individual development, attention to detail, and consistency, while fostering confidence and a love for the game.

“At Apex, we train players to reach their highest level — not just as athletes, but as competitors and leaders.”
